Descriptions of Services
Swedish Massage – Swedish massage is the most common type of massage. The main goal of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. Swedish massage is a light to medium pressure, light on extremities and medium on the neck, back and shoulders. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage is beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
Deep Tissue Massage – Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage. Deep tissue massage is a medium to deep pressure, medium pressure on extremities and deep pressure on the neck, back and shoulders. The deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
Full Body/ Aromatherapy Deep Tissue Massage – This service is very similar to a Deep Tissue Massage, but with an addition of an essential oil of the clients choice. This service is a medium to deep pressure, medium pressure on extremities and deep pressure on the neck, back and shoulders.
Hot Stone Massage – Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.
Restorative Massage – This is a unique service that is tailored to meet the clients individual needs by utilizing the best combination of massage techniques to relax the body, calm the mind, and renew the spirit. This service includes use of Hot Stones, Hot Towels, Essential Oils and pillows for support.
Orthopedic Massage – Orthopedic massage uses a range of therapeutic techniques to release chronic patterns of tension, loosen scar tissue and restore flexibility, range of motion and postural balance. Orthopedic massage uses a very deep pressure all over the body. This service often focuses on one or two specific goals. Orthopedic massage may also be referred to as “Therapeutic,” “Clinical” or “Medical” massage.
Pregnancy Massage – Pregnancy massage, also known as pre-natal massage, promotes relaxation, soothes nerves, and relieves strained back and leg muscles in expectant mothers. Pregnancy massage is especially beneficial in the second and third trimesters, when the extra weight in your belly puts a strain on your back. The nurturing touch during pregnancy massage promotes relaxation and provides emotional support.
Infant Massage – Infant massage is a great way to bond with your baby. Infant massage promotes better sleeping, relieves colic, and enhances an infant’s immune system, motor skills, and intellectual development. Infant massage is a great way to enhance communication through touch.
Reflexology – Reflexology is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body.
Ear Candling – Ear candling is a form of alternative therapy in which the tapered end of an ear candle is placed in a person’s ear while the other end of the candle is lit. The earwax and other impurities are drawn out of the ear canal by a partial vacuum created by the candle flame.
Paraffin Treatment – Paraffin Treatment is a form of deep heat therapy. A paraffin treatment uses warm oil-based wax to provide pain relief to the hands and feet. It increases range of motion for people with arthritis, bursitis and other chronic conditions that cause pain and stiffness. Paraffin treatments also smooth and soften dry, chapped, rough and scaly skin.
Aromatherapy Salt Scrub – Salt scrubs are good for removing dead skin (like on your feet and elbows), and are the ideal treatment for skin detoxification. This service is ideal for someone with really oily skin. Since the salt granules work a little harder than the gentler sugar scrubs, salt scrubs are also a good choice for where skin can get especially dry and calloused. After any salt scrub has been applied and washed off, a moisturizing body lotion is applied to replenish the skin’s moisture.
Aromatherapy Sugar Scrub – Sugar scrubs are more gentle than salt scrubs therefore making it a better choice for sensitive skin types. This service is ideal for someone with really dry skin. While sugar scrubs don’t have the mineral benefits of salt scrubs, they are less drying. Sugar scrubs make a gentle exfoliant that is suitable for next to all skin types and conditions. After any sugar scrub has been applied and washed off, a moisturizing body lotion is applied to replenish the skin’s moisture.
